Solar system consists of the Sun and its celestial bodies that orbit around it-meteors, asteroids, comets, natural satellites, planets and cosmic dust. A wide variety of bodies that exist in the solar system, fall into a few categories. In recent years it was discovered that these categories are not precisely defined.
Scientists still have not reached a unified opinion, how many planets circle around our Sun. Currently the number is around 9 and 12, with Pluto which was thought to be a planet for year got its status revoked. Since scientist cannot agree on that issue, and International Planetary Union dictates the rules according to its political need and not according to astronomical measures, here we will take into account only astronomical parameters. According to astronomical parameters, to pronounce an astronomical body as a planet, it needs to have a regular path around the Sun. Pluto, as Earth or Mars and other planets, fulfill this parameter. Apart from our “family” which bears the name “Solar System”, there are so called “Extrasolar”, which were discovered in orbits around other stars. Considering that this vastness is huge and that in SPACE THERE ARE UNUSUAL OCCURENCES, we are not able to reveal what secrets are held within these STRANGE AND UNBELIEVABLE PLANETS. About 10 unbelievable things regarding Solar system, find out here.
10FACT No 10
The sun makes up 99.86% of the Solar systems mass. The Sun’s gravity is the majority for two light years, nearly halfway to the nearest star.
09FACT No 9
There are five dwarf planets: HAUMEA, CERES, PLUTO, ERIS AND MAKEMAKE. Vulcan was a false dwarf planet, created to explain away irregularities in Mercury’s orbit.
08FACT No 8
Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune all have rings, too thin and dark to see from earth. The Saturn has 53 moons two are within its rings – controlling ring F’S movements.
07FACT No 7
Saturn’s moon Enceladus has a cryovolcano, blasting water into space. Caused by Saturn’s gravity heating an underground ocean on the moon.
06FACT No 6
There are 535.000 minor planets measuring over 1km across, 3.000 are registered each month. Each member of “Monty Python” has one named after them.
05FACT No 5
We actually live within the atmosphere of the Sun, in an area called the corona. The northern lights are evidence of this, created by solar wind.
04FACT No 4
A huge asteroid hit Mercury, creating a 1.300km crater. The shockwave wrinkled the crust on the opposite side of Mercury creating hills.
03FACT No 3
Mercury isn’t the hottest planet in the Solar System; its lack of atmosphere prevents heat being trapped. Venus, however, reaches temperatures of 465C.
02FACT No 2
Volcanoes or asteroids can sometimes blast rock from Mars towards Earth. They are normally landing in Antarctica or Sahara, the eldest dates back 45 BN years.
01FACT No 1
Earth spins on its axis at 460m/sec and whirls around the Galaxy center at 220km/sec. You travel around 21.639744km a day.
