One of basic goals of science is to acquire appropriate explanations for occurrences and regularities in studied reality. The explanation of certain occurrence is based on finding regularity, which in essence is the interest of the science and it enables its development and progress.
The way to find appropriate, successful explanations in science is one of key question of philosophy of science and methodology of science. One of basic functions of scientific knowledge is the prediction of occurrences in certain area. Even though science in last couple hundred years recorded great growth, until today there are still numerous questions that still remain without an answer.
10THE KUPER CLIFF
At the edge of our SOLAR SYSTEM the amount of space rock falls sharply. One explanation is Planet X – a planet sweeping the area of debris.
09THE PLACEBO EFFECT
Simulated or ineffective treatments can heal people. The effect is probably biochemical but is otherwise unexplained.
A powerful underwater sound picked up in the Pacific Ocean in 1997. If caused by an animal, it would have TO be far larger than any whale.
07THE NOCEBO EFFECT
Putting healthy people in a negative frame of mind can make them ill. Cases include incorrect diagnoses of terminal illness that have come true.
06THE LITHIUM PROBLEM
According to BIG BANG THEORY there should be 66 percent lithium-7 in the universe. This suggests possible issues with the theory itself.
Earth’s gravity can provide a slingshot speed visit to passing spacecraft. This boost is larger than anything predicted in known physics.
The Big Bang seemingly created more matter than ANTIMATTER. This imbalance doesn’t fit any theory and there is no definitive explanation why.
Temperatures at the poled during the Eocene period were 15 – 20C (59F – 68F). Current climate models struggle explain this extreme global warming.
02THE AXIS OF EVIL
Anomaly in the temperature distribution of the cosmic microwave background radiation should be random but seems to have a pattern.
Galaxies are speeding toward a point between the constellations of Centaurs and Vela. Something huge, maybe another universe, might be pulling them in.
