TOP 10 MOST POPULAR RIDES AND ATTRACTIONS IN DISNEYLAND (VIDEO 2013)

Are you planning to visit a Disneyland in USA California? Disneyland Park, originally Disneyland, is the first of two theme parks built at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, opened on July 17, 1955. It is the only theme park designed and built under the direct supervision of Walt Disney. It was originally the only attraction on the property, though it was slightly renamed to distinguish it from the expanding complex in the 1990s.

Disneyland has a larger cumulative attendance than any other theme park in the world, with over 650 million guests since it opened. In 2011, the park hosted approximately 16.14 million guests, making it the second most visited park in the world that calendar year. According to a March 2005 report from the Disney Company, there are 65,700 jobs supported by the Disneyland Resort. Disneyland currently boasts 58 attractions, the largest number of attractions for a Disney theme park. (The term “attractions” is used by Disney as a catch-all term for rides, shows, and exhibits.) Do you know which rides are most popular? Here is the list of 10 most popular rides and attractions in Disneyland.

10STAR TOURS: THE ADVENTURES CONTINUE

Star Tours—The Adventures Continue (advertised in some promotional materials as Star Tours 3-D) is a 3D motion simulator attraction located at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disneyland Park, and Tokyo Disneyland. Set in the fictional Star Wars universe, Star Tours—The Adventures Continue takes guests on a turbulent excursion trip across the galaxy, as droids C-3PO and R2-D2 attempt to safely return a member of the Rebel Alliance. The Adventures Continue takes place between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope, unlike its predecessor, which took place after the events of Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. The attraction opened on May 20, 2011 at Disney's Hollywood Studios, on June 3, 2011 at Disneyland, and on May 7, 2013 at Tokyo Disneyland.

09MATTERHORN BOBSLEDS

The Matterhorn Bobsleds is an attraction composed of two intertwining steel roller coasters, which opened in 1959 at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. It is modeled after the Matterhorn, a mountain in the Swiss Alps. It is the first tubular steel continuous track roller coaster ever constructed and thus an ACE (American Coaster Enthusiasts) Coaster Landmark. Located on the border between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland (see below), it employs forced perspective to seem more impressively large. Throughout the day, climbers dressed in Swiss mountain-climbing garb may be seen scaling the peak, often accompanied by Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse and Goofy.

08SPLASH MOUNTAIN

Splash Mountain is a log flume-style dark ride at Disneyland, Tokyo Disneyland, and the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort, based on the characters, stories, and songs from the 1946 Disney film Song of the South. Although there are variations in the story and features between the three locations, each installation begins with a peaceful outdoor float-through that leads to indoor dark ride segments, with a climactic steep drop into a "briar patch" followed by an indoor finale. The drop is 53 feet.

07HAUNTED MANSION

The Haunted Mansion is a haunted house dark ride located at Disneyland, Magic Kingdom (Walt Disney World), and Tokyo Disneyland. Phantom Manor, a significantly re-imagined version of the Haunted Mansion, is located exclusively in Disneyland Paris. The newest rendition at Hong Kong Disneyland is called Mystic Manor. The Haunted Mansion features a ride-through tour in Omnimover vehicles called "Doom Buggies," preceded by a walk-through show in the queue. The attraction utilizes a range of technology, from centuries-old theatrical effects to modern special effects and spectral Audio-Animatronics.

06INDIANA JONES

The Indiana Jones Adventure is an enhanced motion vehicle dark ride attraction based on the Indiana Jones film series. Guests accompany intrepid archaeologist Dr. Indiana Jones on a turbulent quest, aboard military troop transport vehicles, through a dangerous lost temple guarded by a supernatural power. The attraction premiered as Temple of the Forbidden Eye at Disneyland in Anaheim, California on March 3, 1995, and opened to the general public on March 4, 1995. A second, and nearly identical, version of the ride opened as Temple of the Crystal Skull opened on September 4, 2001 at Tokyo DisneySea in Chiba, Japan, although the attraction is not related the film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which was developed and released after the attraction's opening.

05BIG THUNDER MOUNTAIN RAILROAD

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (often shortened to Big Thunder Mountain or Thunder Mountain) is an indoor/outdoor mine train roller coaster located in Frontierland at several Disneyland-style Disney Parks worldwide. The ride exists at Disneyland Park (California) and the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World as Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and at Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Park (Paris) as Big Thunder Mountain. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is also the name of the fictional rail line the roller coaster depicts.

04RADIATOR SPRINGS RACERS

Radiator Springs Racers is a slot car dark ride attraction in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure. The attraction features a third-generation version of transport technology originally developed for the Test Track attraction at Epcot in Walt Disney World. Radiator Springs Racers is themed to the fictional world in Disney·Pixar's Cars. At a cost of over $200 million, the attraction is the most expensive at Disneyland Resort and one of the most expensive theme park attractions in the world. It accounted for about 18% of the entire cost of the $1.1 billion expansion of Disney California Adventure Park. The attraction takes guests in a six-person vehicle through encounters with characters from the film Cars. Guests then race another vehicle through turns and hills, ending with a randomized race result.

03TOWER OF TERROR

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, commonly known as Tower of Terror and sometimes Twilight Zone: The Ride, is an accelerated drop tower thrill ride at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida, Disney California Adventure, Tokyo DisneySea and Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris. All but the Tokyo version are based upon the famous television show The Twilight Zone, and takes place in the fictional Hollywood Tower Hotel. The Tokyo version, which features an original storyline not derived from The Twilight Zone (due to the TV show being relatively less recognised in Japan), takes place in the fictional Hotel Hightower. The three Twilight Zone-based versions and the unique Tokyo version all place riders in a vehicle themed old hotel elevator, and present riders with a fictional back story in which people mysteriously disappeared from a hotel elevator under the influence of some supernatural element many years prior.

02PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN

Pirates of the Caribbean is a log flume dark ride at Disneyland, the Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Park in Paris. The original version at Disneyland, which opened in 1967, was the last attraction whose construction was overseen by Walt Disney himself; he died three months before it opened. The ride, which originally told the story of a band of pirates including their troubles and their exploits, was replicated at the Magic Kingdom in 1973, at Tokyo Disneyland in 1983, and at Disneyland Paris in 1992. Each version of the ride has a different façade, but has a similar ride experience.

01SPACE MOUNTAIN

Space Mountain is the name of a space-themed indoor roller coaster attraction located at all five Magic Kingdom-style Disney Parks. Although all five versions of the attraction are different in nature, all have a similar domed exterior façade that is a landmark for the respective park. The first Space Mountain ride opened in 1975 at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, and similar attractions were then eventually built at the other Disney parks.
