Bilbo Baggins is back in the cinema as we’ve finally reached the end of The Hobbit trilogy. So here at All Time 10s we thought it was the perfect time to discover more about Tolkien’s creation with ’10 Facts You Should Know About Middle Earth’.
Middle-earth is the fictional-universe setting of the majority of author J. R. R. Tolkien’s fantasy writings. The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings take place entirely in Middle-earth, as does much of The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales. Properly, Middle-earth is the central continent of the imagined world, not a name of the entire world.

Warner Bros had to promise Tolkien that Disney would have no role in any production. The author hated Disney´s cheery style. After his death Warner Bros released an animated musical of The Hobbit.

In the 1960 Stanley Kubrick planned to direct an adaptation of LOTR starring The Beatles. Paul was scheduled to play Frodo, John – Gollum, George – Gandalf and Ringo – Sam.

Every single character whose appears in the novel The Hobbit is male. Only one woman is mentioned by name: Belladonna Took, Bilbo´s mother.

During the filming of the Hobbit, 27 animals including sheep and goats were died from exhaustion or drowning. However the credits still promised that no animals had been harmed during production.
