Planet Earth is in danger. We celebrate it birthday on 22 of April. The beginnings of celebrating planet Earth’s Day goes back to the beginning of the seventies of the last century when under the leadership of American senator and ecological activist Gaylord Nelson all over United States of America were held first massed demonstration for the protection of the environment in which over 20 million people participated.
After those demonstrations, the question of environmental protection was raised within political realm. Statements, such as “all is intertwined”, “all has to go somewhere”, “nature knows best”, “there is no free way”, are still used today. By marking this day all over the world people are trying to point out the problems with which nature and man encounter, and especially point out the endangerment of the environment that surrounds us.
Pollution of the ground, sea and air, disappearance of herbal and animal species, global warming and nuclear threats are something that cannot be ignored. But that ignorance is still present which is confirmed by the information that nothing radical is being changed in the lifestyle of modern man who continues to exploit nature and drain all resources that the world posses. Already in the fifties of the last century it became clear that the road that was taken cannot be continued, however, it is demining that we still walk that path. Industrial revolution and rapid growth of science and technology in XX century lead to the destruction of ozone layer, and consequently to climate changes on earth. “The biggest share” in this infamous statistics has most developed countries and countries with most people.
